1. Introduction
Our client operates in the high-volume lead generation space, facilitating transactions between buyers and sellers across multiple verticals such as real estate, auto, insurance, and more. As dynamic pricing models become increasingly essential in digital marketplaces, the client recognized the need for smarter, adaptive pricing to preserve margins and provide value to all participants in the transaction. Traditional flat-rate or rule-based pricing strategies were no longer viable—they limited scalability, reduced competitiveness, and failed to adjust to fluctuating supply-demand dynamics in real time.
2. The Challenge
The marketplace was losing revenue due to static lead pricing that did not reflect real-time conditions. Buyers often underpaid for high-quality leads or overpaid for those with lower performance, leading to operational inefficiencies driven by constant manual pricing adjustments. Additionally, the lack of pricing transparency made it difficult to understand how prices were determined, and the rigid system could not support flexible pricing flows such as highest-bidder auctions, waterfall routing, or broadcast distribution.
3. The Solution
To address these issues, Intuio developed a real-time signal-driven pricing engine integrated directly into the lead assignment workflow. The solution featured signal-aware heuristic pricing models (a deterministic rules-and-signals engine, not ML) that considered factors like vertical, geography, buyer performance, supply-demand ratios, and historical conversion rates. It supported multiple assignment strategies—including highest bidder, waterfall, and broadcast—with pricing tailored to each method. The system also featured a live feedback loop that recalculated pricing as buyer responses, pricing outcomes, and lead performance. Buyers could fine-tune their pricing logic with custom rules and weighting preferences, and every decision came with a full audit trail, including confidence scores and contributing factors.
The tech stack powering this engine included Python for backend development, Redis for caching, and a microservices architecture with REST APIs for scalable deployment.
4. Execution
The 12-week project involved a small, agile team composed of backend engineers, one data analyst, and one project manager. The phased execution began with requirements gathering and signal mapping in weeks 1–2, followed by model development and data ingestion in weeks 3–5. Integration with the transaction engine and API endpoints took place during weeks 6–8, while weeks 9–10 were dedicated to staging environment tests using synthetic leads. The final two weeks saw the live rollout, monitoring, and tuning. Weekly cross-functional reviews with the client ensured alignment at every stage.
5. Results
Post-launch, the platform experienced a client-reported 35% increase in lead margins across optimized campaigns, a 50% reduction in manual pricing interventions, and an 80% adoption rate by buyers within the first 30 days. Transparency into pricing logic improved buyer trust, and satisfaction rose due to a stronger correlation between lead price and quality. One major buyer stated, “We saw pricing accuracy and ROI improve noticeably. The pricing model adjusts to market changes faster than any human team could.”
6. Lessons Learned
Key insights from the engagement included the importance of keeping latency under 100 milliseconds for real-time pricing, which required heavy optimization and caching strategies. Explainability was also crucial—changelogs and transparency dashboards played a major role in building stakeholder trust. Additionally, integrating assignment-type-specific logic (like waterfall vs. broadcast pricing) early in the model design phase proved essential to long-term system stability.
